Who We Are

The Columbia Weavers and Spinners’ Guild is organized to support education in the skills of weaving, spinning and other fiber arts and to promote the appreciation of these arts and crafts in central Missouri.

The guild was founded in 1947 as the Columbia Weavers Guild and specialized in weaving alone. Since our founding we have grown to encompass other fiber arts such as spinning, dyeing, felting, papermaking, knitting, basketweaving, quilting and surface designing, etc. Now called the Columbia Weavers and Spinners’ Guild, we welcome weavers, spinners and fiber enthusiasts of all ages and experience levels. Members include beginners, hobbyists, professionals, and teachers.

The Columbia Weavers and Spinners’ Guild actively promotes fiber arts in Mid Missouri. Each monthly meeting includes an educational program on fiber for Guild members and their guests. The guild hosts at least one nationally known teacher each year for a workshop and lecture. Members have the opportunity to demonstrate their crafts at local festivals and in schools. Guild members may also participate in one or more of several study groups.

Inspiration

Join us for our 25-26 Guild Challenge. Find an item, photo or person and use them as your inspiration to make a unique fiber item. Pictures of a summer trip? A dress you wore to Prom? A special worn out item that needs re-envisioning? Our Guild Challenge projects will be shared at an extended Show and Tell at the May Guild meeting.

Membership

The Columbia Weavers and Spinners’ Guild is open to all, no matter your level of skill.

Beginning fiscal year 2026-27, there will be an increase in dues for Annual Memberships:

$45 for Individual Memberships

$60 or more Patron level (optional)

$75 for Family Memberships

$25 for Student and Financial Need (individuals must self-identify only their need)

$0 for Members 80 years and up, registration required annually

Semi-Annual Board Meeting

We meet as a board twice a year. This is an important time for us to discuss higher purpose, business matters and organizational structure. It is an essential meeting for all committee leaders, (YFAE, HES, Library, VWMT, Educational Scholarship) as well as study group leaders and Executive Board members.
